I loved reading this Patrick, thank you for sharing it. I've been the server/sales person in that situation a few times and I've never been quite sure what to do. All I want is for the person I'm looking after to say whatever it is they want to, I don't care how long it takes. I know my reaction can help or hinder, so I'm hoping I haven't hindered in the past...

Thanks Ruth! That's the whole point –– people who stutter are differently abled, yet it's so rarely talked about, so I try to shed light on it as often as possible (but not so much that it's overkill). You're one of the good ones, noticing, supporting and giving time and space to keep the person who stutters from completely crumbling in shame and self-hate

Thank you so much for sharing this, Patrick! Are you a ciotóg by chance? I've heard that there may be a higher incidence of stammering among left-handers. But I'm not sure if the underlying cause(s) are well-understood - for either of the two phenomena, for that matter....

I'm right-handed, I've never heard about a connection to dominant hand –– and stammering is so much more nuanced and psychological than that

I really enjoyed listening to this today. Not only is it very valuable to learn a little more about the daily challenges someone can face that I do not fully understand or grasp - but it’s also a delight to be able to listen to you in my car. If only you were in the car with me!
